Zellerfeld Partners with Volumental for Custom-Fit 3D Printed Shoes

3D-printed footwear company Zellerfeld has announced a strategic partnership with Volumental, a provider of foot-scanning solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance the precision and accessibility of custom-fit 3D printed shoes.

Volumental's scanning technology will be integrated directly into Zellerfeld's 3D printing workflow, allowing shoes to be manufactured according to the unique contours of each customer's foot. The partnership will leverage Volumental's in-store and online scanning capabilities, feeding the precise foot data directly into Zellerfeld's production pipeline.

Zellerfeld has also made an investment in Volumental, though Volumental will continue to operate independently. Zellerfeld CEO stated that Volumental was chosen for its accuracy and the user-friendliness of its scanning experience, which is crucial for mass-market custom 3D printing. This allows Zellerfeld to concentrate on scaling the production of custom shoes from precise foot data.

Volumental's CEO expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Zellerfeld's achievement in delivering on the long-standing industry goal of manufacturing shoes tailored to individual feet. The company has a significant track record, with over 66 million foot scans collected across more than 3,000 retail locations globally, positioning it with a valuable dataset for custom footwear.

Zellerfeld is also evolving into a platform where designers and brands can upload and sell their 3D printed shoe designs, aiming to become a central infrastructure for a future digital footwear industry. The integration of Volumental's precise scanning technology is expected to improve customer satisfaction and contribute to Zellerfeld's goal of making custom-fit footwear a standard offering.
