Velo3D has announced plans for a 288,747-square-foot production campus in Livermore, California, which will serve as its future manufacturing hub. The company will maintain its current headquarters for research and development, applications engineering, process development, prototyping, and qualification activities. The Livermore campus dedicates approximately 270,000 square feet to manufacturing, featuring clear heights exceeding 36 feet, providing nearly 10 million cubic feet of usable volume. This vertical space is designed to accommodate current large-format printers and future, taller systems as technology and customer needs evolve.

Upon opening, the facility is engineered to house over 40 large-format metal additive systems, with infrastructure prepared for more than 100 machines in the coming years. The site will also encompass machine assembly, in-house post-processing, and serial production of critical components. Velo3D anticipates operating 125 machines across both its Fremont and Livermore campuses to meet demand from the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors seeking domestic manufacturing capabilities.

According to Velo3D's CEO, Arun Jeldi, the expansion reflects increasing customer demand for production-scale additive manufacturing beyond prototyping and qualification. The company aims to be a trusted partner, assisting customers with application qualification, production scaling, supply chain strengthening, and innovation acceleration. The two-site model, with Fremont as the engineering and qualification center and Livermore as the production cornerstone, aims to create a manufacturing ecosystem that speeds up the transition from concept to production.
