Prusa Research has introduced upgraded versions of its CORE One+, CORE One L+, and XL+ 3D printers, focusing on enhanced print quality, efficiency, and user maintenance.

Prusa Research has announced significant upgrades to its industrial and power-user focused 3D printer lineup, including the CORE One+, CORE One L+, and XL+. These updated models offer new features aimed at improving print quality and operational efficiency. A key innovation across the new models is a nozzle wiper designed to clean the nozzle during prints, which, along with the introduction of wiping towers, is intended to save time and improve print reliability.

The XL+ model boasts a new 360-degree cooling system for more controlled airflow around the nozzle, aiming to enhance print detail and finish. It also features a Tool Offset Sensor, which Prusa claims is 20 times faster and improves toolhead alignment. For reduced artifacts and backlash, the printers are now equipped with new GT1.5 belts. Furthermore, an updated enclosure and a new chamber heater allow for chamber temperatures up to 60 °C, which is expected to significantly reduce warping and increase the strength of ABS prints, as well as benefit larger prints in PETG, PC Blend, and PCCF.

The CORE One+ (Gen 2) and CORE One L+ models incorporate the new belts and nozzle wiper. Improvements to heatbed mounting are intended to speed up first-layer times, and an optimized heating routine makes the system ready faster for lower-temperature materials. The top panel has been redesigned for easier removal, facilitating maintenance, and revised vents are also included. Customers ordering these printers will automatically receive the upgraded versions, and upgrade kits will be available for existing owners until September.

In addition to hardware improvements, Prusa is bringing its INDX automatic tool-changing system to the CORE One+. The company has also enhanced its Pressure Advance feature to better manage MFI (Material Flow Index) and wall-slip effects. This advanced extrusion control aims to allow the printer to dynamically adjust extrusion based on real-time filament flow changes, potentially leading to more consistent results across different materials and batches.
